Emily J. Brooks is a writer and author of The First Move, an examination of gender dynamics in dating culture. Formerly, she was the editor of FW, an organisation dedicated to the advancement of women and gender diverse people, and an associate editor at The Huffington Post Australia. She has contributed essays to anthologies published by Penguin Random House and Hachette and recently worked with Grace Tame on her bestselling memoir. Her work has appeared in Vogue Australia, GQ Australia, Refinery29, Grazia, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Women’s Weekly, among other places. Her newsletter, Side Note, explores the rhythms of modern life.
